This Privacy Policy explains how FiftySix Insights LLC, doing business as The Doctor of Shopping (“The Doctor of Shopping,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information about you. It applies when you visit thedoctorofshopping.com, our course platform at courses.thedoctorofshopping.com, our free webinars and masterclasses, and our paid programs, including The Consumer Decode Intensive (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact and account details: name, email address, phone number (if provided), and login credentials when you join a waitlist, register for a webinar, subscribe to our emails, or create an account on our course platform.
  • Purchase information: billing name, billing address, and the products you buy. Card and payment details are entered on and processed by our payment processors; we do not see or store your full card number.
  • Business and brand information: details you share in registration forms, intake or discovery questionnaires, and workbooks, such as your brand name, products, sales channels, customer metrics, audience analytics, and goals. This includes any brand you submit for a live decode during a webinar.
  • Program content: assignments, workbook responses, discussion board posts, comments, hot-seat submissions, chat messages, and other material you share in our programs (see Section 3).
  • Live session recordings: your name, image, voice, and chat messages if you join a live session, webinar, or office hours that is recorded.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, direct message, or contact form, and your responses to surveys or feedback requests.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and the dates and times of your visits.
  • Course activity: lesson progress, completion status, logins, and engagement within our course platform.
  • Email engagement: whether you open our emails and which links you click.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 4.

Information from third parties

  • Payment processors, which confirm whether a transaction succeeded.
  • Webinar and video tools, which provide attendance and registration data.
  • Social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok, when you interact with our accounts, ads, or posts, or when you respond publicly to a prompt we post.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver the Services, including enrolling you in programs, granting course access, releasing workbooks and lessons, and running live sessions, hot seats, and office hours.
  • Process payments, payment plans, discount codes, and refunds.
  • Send you transactional messages such as receipts, login details, schedule changes, and session reminders.
  • Send marketing emails about webinars, programs, books, and other offerings, where permitted (see Section 6).
  • Provide feedback on your work and select examples for live discussion.
  • Understand how people use our website and programs so we can improve content, teaching, and future cohorts.
  • Run and measure advertising, including on Meta platforms (see Section 4).
  • Conduct research, develop case studies, and write books and educational materials, as described in Section 3.
  • Protect our intellectual property, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

3. Program participant content, research, and case studies

Our programs are taught as live, working courses. What you share inside them is seen by others and may inform our research and teaching.

Visibility within a cohort. Content you post to the cohort discussion board, community chat, or live sessions is visible to Nicole Arnett Sanders, PhD and to other members of your cohort. Hot-seat submissions may be discussed live in front of the cohort. Please share only what you are comfortable having other participants see.

Recordings. Live sessions, hot seats, office hours, and webinars may be recorded. Recordings are made available to enrolled participants in that cohort. We may also use excerpts in future teaching materials; if we use any recording in which you are identifiable outside your cohort, we will ask for your permission first.

Research, case studies, and publications. We may use the work you complete in our programs, including assignments, workbook responses, hypotheses, findings, and outcomes, to:

  • Conduct consumer behavior research and develop academic or industry publications.
  • Write books, including textbooks and practitioner guides.
  • Create case studies and educational examples for future cohorts, corporate training, and teaching.
  • Refine and validate The Consumer Decode method.

When we use participant work this way, we will de-identify it by default, removing your name and your brand name and changing details that could reasonably identify you or your business. We will only name you or your brand, or publish details that would identify you, with your separate written consent.

If you are taking part in a formal academic research study, you will receive a separate consent form describing that study, and that form will govern your participation.

Opting out. You may ask us not to use your program work for research, case studies, or publications by emailing us at the address in Section 10. Opting out does not affect your access to the program. We cannot withdraw material already published in de-identified form.

Customer information you bring. Some assignments involve reviewing your own customers’ comments, reviews, survey responses, or interviews. Please remove names and contact details from customer information before sharing it in the program, and share only material you have the right to share. You are responsible for complying with the privacy laws and platform terms that apply to your own customers’ data.

4. Cookies, pixels, and advertising

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, understand how the Services are used, and measure and deliver advertising.

  • Essential cookies keep the website and course platform working, such as login and checkout.
  • Analytics cookies help us see which pages and lessons are used most.
  • Advertising pixels, including the Meta Pixel, let us show ads for our webinars and programs on Instagram and Facebook to people who visited our site, and measure whether those ads led to registrations or purchases. [Add others you use, such as the TikTok Pixel or Google Analytics.]

These partners may collect information about your activity on our site and across other websites over time. You can control this by:

  • Adjusting your browser to block or delete cookies (some features may stop working).
  • Using your ad preferences in your Meta, Instagram, or other account settings.
  • Visiting the opt-out tools at optout.aboutads.info and youradchoices.com.

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common standard for these signals, our website does not currently respond to them. Where required by law, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of targeted advertising.

  • Purchase records for as long as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
  • Marketing data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • De-identified research and case study material indefinitely, because it no longer identifies you.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we rely on established providers for payments and hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

  • Opt out of marketing emails and texts.
  • Opt out of the use of your program work for research, case studies, or publications (see Section 3).

U.S. state privacy rights. Depending on your state, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what categories of information we collect and share, the right to obtain a copy in a portable format, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising. Using advertising pixels may be considered “sharing” for targeted advertising under some state laws. You may opt out by emailing us or by using a Global Privacy Control signal. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Visitors outside the United States. We are based in Florida, and your information is processed in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Canada, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your information, and to withdraw consent. We rely on your consent, our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in running and improving our business as the legal bases for processing. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

How to make a request. Email us at the address in Section 10 with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, generally within 45 days. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with your written permission.

Children. The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links. Our website, emails, and programs may link to other websites, platforms, and brands, including brands we discuss as examples. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.

Affiliate links. Some links on our website or in our content may be affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer or affiliate network may use cookies to track that referral.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top, and for significant changes we will notify you by email or on the website.
